SUMMARY:Memorial Day Walk of Honor
DESCRIPTION:The Bonham Area Chamber of Commerce proudly announces the annual Walk of Honor to beheld at 9:00am at the Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center at 1201 E 9th St Bonham\, TX on Memorial Day\, Monday May 26th\, 2025. \nParticipants will gather east of the main building at 9:00am for an invocation and pledge of allegiance led by local organizations\, American Legion Anderson Robertson Post 283 and VFW James E Bragg Post 4852 before joining in a somber walk to honor loved ones who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Participants are encouraged to represent loved ones by carrying photos and sharing their stories and memories. \nIt was in 1948 that speaker of the house Sam Rayburn worked to establish the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Bonham in order to better serve the veterans of northeast Texas. It is for this reason that the Bonham Area Chamber of Commerce has chosen to honor our veterans and those that gave the ultimate sacrifice on these grounds as it is an accessible location for residents of the VA Nursing Home and the neighboring Clyde W Cosper State Veterans Home. \nThis is a free event that all members of the Bonham community and surrounding areas are invited to attend\, regardless of veteran or military status. Vendors\, music\, family activities\, and much more!\n\n\nAll routes will begin on the updated downtown Bonham square featuring a completely restored county courthouse. The longer routes will take you on a journey through Fannin county\, over the new Bois d’Arc Lake and through the Caddo National Grasslands. Businesses and organizations will be selling hot cocoa\, cider\, cookies and more to help raise funds for the Fannin County non-profit organization of their choice.  At 6:00pm\, we will flip the switch to light up our 30′ Christmas tree\, generously donated by Bonham Chrysler in 2015\, to bring Christmas magic back to the Bonham square.

The parade begins at 6:00 pm but the holiday magic doesn’t stop when the last float passes\, as we will be lighting up Lollipop Lane to welcome Mr. & Mrs. Claus so children of all ages can whisper their Christmas wishes in Old St. Nick’s ear.  Back this year is our S’more Cook-off in Lollipop Lane\, offering sweet treat to all that wander through our magical Christmas village at 122 W. 3rd St. Bonham\, TX. \nLollipop Lane will be open to the public at no charge from December 5th through December 31st. \n
